Working with an artist like John Cowan automatically carries a heavy level of responsibility, given the incredible level of quality that he brings to the project – there is not a finer singer on the planet, in my opinion. In my role as producer, I exerted my best efforts at every stage – song choices, arrangements, players that suited the material, and of course the recording process overall. When it came time for mastering, I feel that it was good fortune indeed to get Randy LeRoy involved. He has proven to be such a great match for the music in terms of his sensibilities sonically and he is such a pleasure to work with – and we have a lot of range stylistically on this project, so I would say for any mastering engineer that this would be a real challenge. Randy really did a great job, and again, such a good guy and easy to communicate and work with.
