This Sunday the best music and recordings of 2012 will be honored at the 55th annual GRAMMY’s, and we at Airshow will be cheering for several clients as the winners are announced!
Catch the pre-telecast where winners in the following categories will be streamed live online through GRAMMY Live.
Best Bluegrass Album: Scratch Gravel Road by Special Consensus
Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album: Imaginaries by Quetzal
Best Children’s Album (TWO nominees!):
JumpinJazz Kids – A Swinging Jungle Tale – Featuring Al Jarreau, Hubert Laws and Dee Dee Bridgewater
Little Seed: Songs for Children by Woody Guthrie performed by Elizabeth Mitchell
Best New Age Album: Light Body by Peter Kater on Mysterium Music
Best Surround Sound Album: Modern Cool by Patricia Barber on Premonition Records (We had a hand in the stereo version on the Pure Audio Blu-Ray release. The awesome surround version is up for Sunday’s award.)
Best Historical Album and Best Packaging: Woody at 100: The Woody Guthrie Centennial Collection on Smithsonian Folkways (Charlie Pilzer and David Glasser previously worked on some of the songs included in this box set.)
Pete Reiniger of Smithsonian Folkways–the non-profit record label of the National Museum–talks in this Mix article about the label’s history and his work over the years with Airshow’s David and Charlie.
We wish our clients all the best at Sunday’s awards, and hope you all will help us cheer them along. Some of these incredible musicians will be performing in pre-GRAMMY concerts this week:
Jumpin’ Jazz Kids – A Swinging Jungle Tale creators Mark Oblinger and Steve Barta, featuring Hubert Laws, Al Jarreau, Dee Dee Bridgewater, and a talented line-up of collaborators play a NARAS pre-GRAMMY outreach concert Friday morning to select Los Angeles-area school kids at Club Nokia with our own James Tuttle at the soundboard!
